Backstory: SPOILERS FOR DUNGEON MESHI AHEAD Born of an elf mother and a tallman father, Marcille had an erratic childhood. She grew up either faster or slower than everyone she knew. As she realized she was going to outlive just about everyone she ever met, Marcille grew more and more obsessed with figuring out a way to extend the lifespans of others. She went to a school to study magic in hopes of furthering this goal.

She made two big discoveries there. The first was of Ancient Magic. This branch of magic was poorly understood and largely forbidden, but it made use of an alternate dimension with unlimited energy and Marcille figured that changing the basic biology of every person in the world would take a lot of energy so it seemed like a promising avenue of research. The second was a young woman named Falin. Falin was kind of a weirdo, but she had an innate understanding of magical ecosystems that Marcille found fascinating and they become close friends.

When she heard that Falin was going off with her brother to become an adventurer and explore a cursed dungeon, Marcille joined her. The Dungeon was connected to Ancient Magic, so it was the logical next step in her research. Unfortunately, Falin's group encountered a dragon while exploring. Falin used the last of her strength to cast a return spell on the rest of the group before being devoured whole.

With no money and most of their gear lost, Marcille, Falin's brother, and the halffoot picklock that had been with them decided on a desperate plan. They would descend into the Dungeon once again, without any supplies, and figure out how to hunt and kill and eat the monsters within, all in the name of speed. They could bring Falin's body back to life, but to do so they needed her body, which meant they had to find and kill the dragon before it finished digesting her.

Marcille is not really okay with eating monsters, but her bond with Falin won't let her give up, no matter how disgusting the prospect of eating basilisk eggs and giant scorpion is. NO MORE SPOILERS

TL;DR: Book smart mage goes adventuring and ends up having to eat a bunch of weird monsters for food so she has enough energy to save her girlfriend

Powers

• Ambrosia: Her staff, made out of living wood with a loop at one end. Aside from serving as a passable blunt instrument, using Ambrosia as a focus also lets her cast spells more efficiently and with more power. Casting without it is fully possible, but it seems to tire her out more quickly.
  
• Explosion: A simple spell that causes an explosion. She can modulate the power in it by taking more time to charge it up. Her first choice for defending herself
  
• Light: Creates a small cluster of floating orbs that produce light to see by
  
• Healing: Not really her specialty, but Marcille can repair injuries if she needs to. The way she does it is quick and dirty. It works, but often causes aftershocks of pain almost as intense as the pain from the injury itself
  
• Water walking: This spell allows the subject and all their personal effects to treat water as if it was a solid surface
  
• Abjuration: Also not her specialty. Abjuration spells protect the person she casts them on, repelling anything that approaches them too quickly
  
• Flash: Creates a burst of light bright enough to stun anything nearby that relies on vision
  
• Necromancy: Marcille can animate corpses and cause them to copy her actions, although she doesn't like to because it's gross and also mega illegal
  
• Ghost repellent:Using her hair, Marcille can make a little charm that will make it harder for ghosts to posses you
  
• Familiars: Using her hair, Marcille can create a familiar, a small construct that can fly around under her command, allowing her to view distant places. She often ends up mimicking the familiar's actions while she's focused on controlling it, making her move around in weird ways.
  
• Ancient Magic: Through elaborate rituals, Marcille can magnify her spells to do just about anything, so long as she has access to a potent enough power source. There's a million ways this can go wrong, so she's cautious about using it.

First Impressions

• Appearance: 5'3", 120lbs. Long blond hair, green eyes, pointy elf ears. Usually keeps her hair in intricate styles with braids. Favors wearing loose clothes in blue and white.
  
• Vibes: Marcille usually seems like she's giving whatever she's focusing on at that moment 100% of her attention and energy, whatever that is. She is very energetic and animated in her body language, and tends to wear her heart on her sleeve. You will never be unsure what Marcille thinks about something because she WILL tell you.
  
• Interests: Obscure magical theory, corny romance novels, seafood, grand ambitions about changing the world for the better, Falin
  
• Sensitive topics: Weird food, death and mortality, outliving her friends

• Shipping: Marcille has got it down bad for her fellow adventurer Falin. In some situation where Falin isn't on the table, she is a lesbian and a huge sappy romantic

• Violence: Marcille is a cool mage who knows how to handle herself in a fight, but will probably panic if she isn't fighting alongside a party that can protect her while she casts spells.
